Nexus

A workspace for writing, organising, and planning. Three primitives, nothing more.

Why I built it

Every tool in this category tries to be ten products at once. Notion, Coda, ClickUp. I wanted to see what the workspace would feel like if it owned three things and refused the rest. Documents, pages, a calendar. That's the entire surface.

The making

How it came together

Designed the structure in Figma until the empty states felt right. Then I built it. Cursor and Claude carried the boilerplate. I owned the writing flow, the page model, and the search behaviour. The page nesting was the hardest part — most workspace tools fail there because the data model leaks into the UI.

The takeaway

What it taught me

When you remove features, the design problem shifts from layout to language. Half the work went into what to call things. The other half was making the empty calendar feel like an invitation, not a void.
